Please help me find any info on my great great grandfather, Joseph Sylvester
GREENE. I’ve run into a roadblock with him and
can’t seem to find any information about him or anyone past him on my
father’s side.
Here is what I know so far.
Joseph Sylvester GREENE was born around 1867, but I’m not sure where.
He married a woman named Marion ABBOTT is Salem,
Oregon.
They had three kids Chester, Hazel, and Bertha.
Marion left him and came east to settle in Apalachin with the three kids.
She later married Abram CAMPBELL, who I found
records of using Ancestry.com.
Joseph later (not sure how much later) came out after her and settled
in Apalachin as well.
I found a record at the Clerk’s office in Owego in the Tioga County
Census that has a J. Sylvester GREENE living on Church St. in Owego in
1925… could be the right guy.
Joseph later died crossing route 858 in Apalachin while crossing the
rode, I’m gussing he was hit by a car, my family that’s left seems
to think he died in 1948-1949.
The folks at the Owego Town Hall checked and don’t have any record
of his death. They think maybe he was sent by ambulance to Ideal Hospital
in Endicott.
If I could find out where he is buried it would go a long way in moving
my work forward.
