I am researching James STEWART, a son of Joseph STEWART, Sr. a Revolutionary War veteran from Minisink, Orange Co., New York, born near Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Joseph's children:
1. Joseph STEWART, stayed in Orange Co.
2. Enoch Stewart ??
3. James STEWART, went to Tioga Co.
4. Amy STEWART STINNARD went to Tioga Co.
5. Elizabeth STEWART DOAN stayed in Orange Co.
James was the brother to Joseph whose 1864 will is shown below. This will was probably written by Joseph (Jr.) a sibling of James who was in Jenksville, Tioga Co.
Will of Joseph STEWART of Town of Goshen, Orange Co. on file in Goshen (Liber 28, page 331) and dated April 18, 1864 lists seven children as heirs:1. Rosetta LANE of Lehman, Luzerne Co., Pa;
2. Enoch STEWART of Slate Hill;
3. Dewitt STEWART of Westtown;
4. Arminda WELLS of Goshen;
5. Solomon STEWART of Goshen;
6. Wm. Reynolds STEWART of Westtown;
7. Harriet Emily VREELAND of GoshenIn addition without relationship being mentioned,
James STEWART of Jinksville [sic], Tioga Co., N.Y.; Amy STINNARD, also of Jinksville [sic], N.Y.; and Betsey DOAN of Westtown, N.Y,
I have found information on the STINNARD's in Tioga Co. but not on James, hence the query.
Any information on James STEWART or his descendants would be appreciated.

I am researching Lucy FITCH and her husband Sylvester KNAPP.
Lucy FITCH KNAPP was born Apr 02, 1790, died Nov 09, 1871 (I show in Smithboro). She married Sylvester KNAPP who was born in 1790 and died Dec 25, 1872 in Smithboro. I found their son Jabez FITCH KNAPP in the listing for Old Smithboro Cemetery, but can't find them.
Lucy Fitch was born on Apr 2, 1790 and died Nov 9 1871. Her parents were Jonathan FITCH and Esther SILL FITCH. Jonathan was well noted in the Wyoming Massacre of 1775
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/History_of_Wyoming/Letter_XVIII
Sylvester KNAPP was a physician and Justice of the Peace in Tioga.
Lucy FITCH KNAPP's grave site, is the ONLY gravesite I am missing in my line from Present to William BRADFORD of the Mayflower. Although it is LUCY I really need, I would also like to find Sylvester.
Other facts about Sylvester:
1824 He was a physician and a member of the Tioga County Medical Society
1829 When the church at Nichols (now the Methodist church) was built in 1829, he was one of the trustees and was the only one from Smithboro.
1835 He was the Justice of the Peace in the Town of Tioga
1852 He was a Justice (Judge) of Sessions
1854 He was a member of the Masons at Westbrook Lodge #333 F. and A. M. chartered 2/1/1854. He was one of the first principal officers.
If you can be of any assistance, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Need info on American Revolution Soldier, Benjamin FURMAN (1759 - 1840?), living in or around Ithaca in 1832 with son's, William FURMAN and/or Daniel FURMAN. Searching for family bible or other family info.
Can you help me?
I am looking for information on a man, last name SHERMAN, who lived in Owego, and owned a jewelry store by that name. This man's mother's name was Margaret DECKER SHERMAN, born around 1835. This man was a 'dwarf' and traveled with the Barnum and Bailey Circus before he retired in Owego.
I also know that Mr. SHERMAN's mother, Margaret SHERMAN was born Margaret ROBINSON either in Prattsville NY or Catskill NY. She married a Mr. SHERMAN and moved to Binghamton.
Many years later, her nephew, Louis DECKER, stopped into the SHERMAN jewelry store in Owego wondering if he might find his cousin, who was a dwarf, and indeed his cousin, the Mr. SHERMAN I am looking for information about, was there.
Any help is appreciated

Please help me find any info on my great great grandfather, Joseph Sylvester GREENE. Ive run into a roadblock with him and cant seem to find any information about him or anyone past him on my fathers side.
Here is what I know so far.
Joseph Sylvester GREENE was born around 1867, but Im not sure where.
He married a woman named Marion ABBOTT is Salem, Oregon.
They had three kids Chester, Hazel, and Bertha.
Marion left him and came east to settle in Apalachin with the three kids.
She later married Abram CAMPBELL, who I found records of using Ancestry.com.
Joseph later (not sure how much later) came out after her and settled in Apalachin as well.
I found a record at the Clerks office in Owego in the Tioga County Census that has a J. Sylvester GREENE living on Church St. in Owego in 1925 could be the right guy.
Joseph later died crossing route 858 in Apalachin while crossing the rode, Im gussing he was hit by a car, my family thats left seems to think he died in 1948-1949.
The folks at the Owego Town Hall checked and dont have any record of his death. They think maybe he was sent by ambulance to Ideal Hospital in Endicott.
If I could find out where he is buried it would go a long way in moving my work forward.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
