Tioga Co. Mailing Lists

We had mailing lists for Tioga & Adjacent Counties, compliments of Rootsweb, but they were discontinued in March 2020. These have been replaced by discussion groups, details below. However, the mailing list archives are still available for review and those two are mentioned below.

There are two lists that involve Tioga Co.

1. NYTIOGA-L just deals with Tioga Co.

2. NYFingerLakes-L is devoted to genealogical research in Cayuga, Livingston, Schuyler, Seneca, Tompkins, Tioga, Wayne and Yates counties.

If you'd like to discuss Tioga County resources, your experiences growing up in Tioga and adjacent counties, or any other genealogically-related topics [loosely defined by the listmaster] concerning these counties, please subscribe following the simple instructions here.

If you're new to mailing lists and you're saying, "huh???", a mailing list is a group of people who send a message which goes to the whole group, maybe less than a dozen people or a few dozen at most. Sort of like having a giant party-line telephone. It's an on-going discussion and anyone is welcome to join in. 'Subscribing' gets you on the list so you receive the mail from the group and can write to the group. If you don't like it, or need to take a break, you can unsubscribe just as easily. So give it a try!

Participation is limited to subscribers.

MAIL mode mode sends postings as soon as received.
Subscribe in MAIL mode by sending a message whose text contains the word:

subscribe

and nothing else, ... to:

NY-TIOGA discussion group

OR

NY Finger Lakes Region Genealogy Group

DIGEST mode mode is available after you subscribe in a confirmation email that is sent.

Regardless of which mode you choose, AFTER YOU SUBSCRIBE, all messages are sent to the distribution list using:

NY-TIOGA@groups.io

OR

NY-Finger-Lakes-Region@groups.io
