Candor Courier, Sept. 19, 1912

A large barn owned by Herman Holt, brother-in-law of Sheriff Daily, near barton village was burned by lightning Tuesday, with all contents except the team and one wagon, which were taken out. The loss is about $3,000, with $1,000 insurance.
Four barns on the farm of Jesse Ellis, on Talmadge Hill, town of Barton were burned in the same storm. The loss being over $2,000, with but $400 in insurance.
