Lillian Krisko Stimik, 85, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Owego, New York, died at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida on November 22, 2008. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. STIMIK was predeceased by her parents, Helen and John KRISKO; stepmother, Rose KRISKO; and sister, Lucille VALASHINAS.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, George STIMIK; son and daughter-in-law, John and Dorothea STIMIK, Germany; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Dr. Stephen MASON, Vermont; three grandchildren, Katharine STIMIK, Christopher STIMIK, and Gabriel STIMIK MASON; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Violet REA, Calif., Joyce STARK-KRISKO, Owego, Delores and Albert KOCAK, Florida, Carol and Gerald OSTERHOUT, Sr., Conklin; sisters-in-law, Judy STIMIK, Binghamton, Denise STIMIK, Binghamton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. STIMIK was educated in the Binghamton schools, graduated from the Binghamton City Hospital of Nursing in 1944, attended Syracuse University for PHN certification, worked in the Chenango, Cortland and Tioga County PHN Services, and retired in 1981. Her career as a Public Health Nurse was very fulfilling to her. Lillian especially enjoyed her family and friends, homemaking, gardening and was an avid reader. She was a thoughtful and giving person who will be missed.
As a memorial to Lillian, we ask that if you have a photograph of a special time that you shared with Lillian, please label it and bring it to the church to share. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street, Owego, on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, N.Y., at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lillian K. Stimik's memory to Boy's and Girl's Club, or the Coburn Free Library, both in Owego. Arrangements are by the Estey, Monroe & Fahey Funeral Home.
