Helen R. MULLEN, 65, of RR 1 Athens went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 20, 2003. Born April 9, 1938 in Owego, N.Y., she was the daughter of Charles and Anna DEPEW HAVENS. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1957. She was married to her husband, James, just short of 45 years. She was employed by Athens Township for 20 years.

Helen enjoyed gardening, camping, bird watching and needlework and loved being with her family and grandchildren. Her warmth and giving nature touched the lives and hearts of those who met her. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Athens, where she was a Sunday school teacher and an Awana leader. She is survived by: her loving husband, James, at home; five children, James Jr. and Jeryl MULLEN of Sayre, Ruth and Cliff CASTERLINE of Athens Township, Gerald and Susan MULLEN of Abilene, Texas, Sue and Dale WILSON of Tucson, Ariz., and Diane and Rocky COVEY of Monroeton; 10 grandchildren, Daran, Kylie and Ryan MULLEN, L.J. and Emily CASTERLINE, Aubrey MULLEN, Derek WILSON, Elijah and Brighton COVEY and Summer CASTERLINE. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean ARNOLD of Barton, N.Y., and Grace WRIGHT of Athens Township; a brother, John HAVENS of Waverly, N.Y.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call Tuesday, April 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens.

Funeral and committal services will follow Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Paul BARRETT, officiating. At Helen's request, in lieu of flowers, a memorial be made in her name to Guthrie Hospice, RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens.
