| George W. ALVE, 85, of Spencer, died Thursday, Oct. 9,
2008 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
He was born in Newfield, N.Y. April 19, 1923, the son of the late Ripert and Vera (Westerlund) ALVE.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean SEELEY ALVE; two sons Carl (Glenda) ALVE of Spencer and David ALVE of Plano, Texas; there grandchildren Hilary (Shane) ZAVASKI of Spencer, Seth (MERRIT) ALVE of Richardson, Texas, Chelsey ALVE of Dallas, Texas; five great-grandchildren Danielle, Alex, Zoe, Ki, Shyla, all of Spencer; brother Eino (Edna) ALVE of Spencer; sister Violet GREY, Gloversville, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by two grandsons, James Douglas Alve and Carl Edward ALVE Jr.; three brothers Waino, Vertner, William; two sisters Verna SILVOININEN and Viena KETOLA.
George was a member of Faith Bible Chapel, Finger Lakes Finns, Spencer Fire Department, served in Spencer Town Board and Penny Promenaders Square Dance Club.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Bible Chapel in Spencer on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Clarence Windnagle officiating. Interment is in La Row Cemetery, North Van Etten, N.Y. Memorials may be donated to Faith Bible Chapel or ones charity. Arrangements are provided by the Allen-Manzer Funeral Home.
